Featured Artist – Karen Van Dam Michmerhuizen

The Spoon is collaborating with the Holland Area Arts Council to feature locally made artwork in the restaurant. The HAAC helps connect The Spoon with Holland area artists to showcase their work and fill the restaurant with brilliant art.

The Spoon is currently featuring works from local artist, Karen Van Dam Michmerhuizen.

“It all began with a new box of crayons, then a stamping set from my grandfather. Beginning with watercolors and then moving on to oil paint, it has been satisfying to my soul to create a painting. With no formal instruction it has been videos, workshops, and painting with friends both plein air and studio to keep the ever-learning process going. My subject matter is varied. Also an avid gardener, flowers often get a second life in my work. Simple still lifes are a favorite and also the landscape.”

Karen’s works are currently on display at The Spoon and are available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting the artist, Gateway Mission, and HAAC.
